What happens to what you tell an AI? Where it goes.
What you tell an AI is stored by the company that runs it, and by default it is often used to train future models. A 2025 Stanford analysis of six major AI developers found that all six appear to train on users' chats by default. Some keep chats for years, human reviewers may read samples, and courts can order companies to keep chats you deleted. superemotion encrypts every message under a per-account key before storage and never uses conversations for training.

Training on your conversations
OpenAI says ChatGPT improves by training on conversations people have with it unless they opt out, in Settings under data controls. Anthropic changed its consumer terms in August 2025: Claude Free, Pro and Max users choose whether their chats are used for training, and if they allow it, data is kept for five years rather than 30 days.
Google says a subset of Gemini chats is reviewed by human reviewers, and those chats are kept for up to three years. It advises people not to enter confidential information.
Companion apps are often worse
When Mozilla reviewed 11 romantic AI chatbots in 2024, all 11 earned its privacy warning label. It found that 90% may share or sell personal data, 54% would not let users delete it, and most had published no clear information about encryption.
Things have improved at some companies since, but the lesson holds: read the privacy policy, not just the app store label, before you tell an app about your life.
Deleted does not always mean gone
In May 2025, a US court in the New York Times copyright case against OpenAI ordered it to preserve output logs that would otherwise be deleted, including at a user's request. Reports say that obligation was later narrowed, but it showed that a company can be required to keep chats you thought were gone.
Memory adds another layer. OpenAI notes that deleting a chat does not erase memories ChatGPT took from it; you have to delete those separately.
What superemotion does with what you tell it
Every message, conversation title and remembered fact is encrypted with AES-256 under a key derived for your account before it reaches the database, and the database refuses to return any row that is not yours. Replies are generated on AWS Bedrock, which does not train on your conversations, and superemotion never uses them for training. Its logs record timing and cost, never what you said.
To be precise about the limits: superemotion holds the secret the keys are derived from, so encryption protects against a stolen database, not against superemotion itself. We commit not to read your conversations. You can delete your account from settings at any time.
Five questions to ask any AI app
Does it train on my conversations, and can I turn that off? How long are chats kept, and are any read by people? Is what I say encrypted when stored? Can I delete my data, including anything it remembered? Does it share or sell data for advertising?

Questions
- Do AI chatbots use my conversations for training?
- Often by default. A Stanford analysis of six major developers found all six appear to train on chats by default. Most let you opt out. superemotion never uses conversations for training.
- Can anyone read my AI chats?
- It depends on the company. Google says a subset of Gemini chats is read by human reviewers. superemotion encrypts every message under a per-account key and commits not to read conversations.
- Is it safe to tell an AI personal things?
- It is as safe as the company's practices. Check training, retention, encryption and deletion before you share anything you would not want stored.
In short
superemotion (also written SuperEmotion) is an emotional AI you talk to in your web browser: an emotionally intelligent AI that remembers the people, places and moments in your life across every conversation. It keeps a private, encrypted memory graph instead of a transcript, reads how each message feels before it answers, and replies directly, without therapy-speak or reflexive validation. It is free during early access.
